Kompozer
Kompozer is a free web designer program. Kompozer is available for download for free from the Kompozer download website. I have used this program in conjunction with others for quite a long time and been very happy with its performance.

e FrontPage (from Microsoft) and Dreamweaver (Adobe), both of which are quite expensive. I did the usual buy it because it must be better but fount that for value you cannot go past Kompozer.
When I first tried Kompozer as a web authoring program I thought it was a bit simple, or basic, but soon realised that the advantages it offers when doing .css and other website management tools make it quite a competent offering.
As well as Kompozer I have several other tools that complement it. I have separate tools for image editing, creating animated gifs, editing .css and editing html.
The major advantage of Kompozer as a free web authoring tool is that it allows you to see what you are doing (WYSIWYG) as you are creating. I prefer the format where you can see the html tags because it aids in understanding what commands you have issued. The source format is also great for editing and reducing any superfluous code. Although KompoZer is designed to be extremely easy to use, making it ideal for non-technical computer users who want to create an attractive, professional-looking web site without needing to know HTML or web coding those of us that do use coding still enjoy this interface.
As I use Mozilla Firefox, and Thunderbird, the use of Kompozer is a natural choice. They all use the same base and come from similar lineage. The use of Tabs and the ease of features (like the color picker) make web development a simple and intuitive process.
When using this sort of program you need to be fully aware of the dangers of on line file transfers and the opportunity that exists for unscrupulous users. Make sure your internet security suite is a top notch one. I recommend Kaspersky Internet Security if you do not have a favourite one installed already.
