Netbook Computers
The Netbook is a computer type name that was started only a year or so ago, initially by Asus (the worlds premier supplier of laptops and motherboards) when they stormed the market by intoducing cheap (affordable) yet fully functional ulta portable laptops. The first release of the Asus Eee was the signal for a major shakeup of laptop and portable computing worldwide.
Netbook is Linux Powered
Not only did Asus change the face of portable computing with the release of the Asus Eee (and its huge product range) they also challenged the use of the Windows environment by having a Linux operating system (distro) installed. The use of the Linux operating system enabled further savings to end users (us the buyers) which meant the sub $600 ultra portable laptop was no longer just a dream but a reality.
