The Humble Mouse or the magic Mouse

There is a variety of mouse types on the market including bluetooth, optical, ball, PS/2, USB, wireless. These all have various features including scrolling, ball wheel, rechargeable, etc. Many cordless mice now use bluetooth rather than the USB / wireless combination which seem to be more suited to this cordless function. The USB / wireless mouse has the advantage of being able to plug in when the battery is flat and it will recharge whist operating, ready to be cordless again very soon. The bluetooth type have improved somewhat over tha last couple of years.

Mice for all reasons

Some specialised mice are perfect for gaming and business functions with a range of features on the device, often meaning it does not even have to move but the cursor is moved by the wheels or buttons on the mouse.

If you use the mouse in a specialist role it is definitely worth getting a mouse to suit. Most can also be reversed (button functions swapped over) for left handed use. I tend to use my mouse equally with either hand, as much for health (ergonomic) reasons as for convenience and learning to use it left handed doesn't take long.

The most common mouse is still the corded type although the cordless (bluetooth) mouse has become much more popular since they have improved with reliability. It is always worth having a corded mouse handy even if you have a cordless mouse just in case the batteries go flat or some other technical issue happens.
